SigNATURE

Our signatures are self-portraits. Graffiti and tags are stylized signatures. To me, this personal calligraphy is a sign of consciousness. It's the ego fit to the limit of the body-the character of our handwriting. I say "Sig-Nature," because in this body of work, I've put a human "touch" to the landscape-nature transformation that I was involved with: "nature" to "human nature." I wanted to introduce a human presence into my nature abstraction. With this, I've been with working with color like a musical chord. The "SigNatures," derived from handwriting, are a kind of expression of identity. I call these objects and signatures "Traces of Being." "Feeling," emotion, sense of being, CONSCIOUSNESS, where does that fit in the cosmos. Where is the limit of consciousness?animal, plant, stone?
